Course Outline
This package includes a full-length Permit Practice Test and the Official FLHSMV Permit Exam.
You have the option of taking the Permit Practice Test before you take the Official FLHSMV Permit Exam Online.
Upon successful completion of the official exam, you will be eligible to receive your Florida Restricted or Permit Driver’s License at your local DMV office. The test is approved by the Florida Department Highway Safety Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). The American Safety Institute (ASI) is a 3rd party provider that offers the permit test online.
Please note: You must be under the age of 18 years old to take the test online.

HOW MANY QUESTIONS IS OFFICIAL THE PERMIT EXAM?
The exam is a total of 50 questions.
HOW MANY QUESTIONS DO I NEED TO ANSWER CORRECTLY?
You must answer 40 or better (80%) correct to pass.
DO I NEED TO TAKE THE TEST IN ONE (1) SITTING?
Yes. The test must be taken in one sitting. You only have 60 minutes to complete the exam.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I FAIL THE TEST?
You can re-take the test 2 more times if you fail the first test. However, you will be required to pay a re-take fee for each test.
Keep in mind, you can only take the Permit Exam 3 times online. If you do not pass, you will have to re-take the test in-person.
DO I HAVE TO PAY ANY ADDITIONAL FEES TO GET MY LICENSE?
Yes. You will be required to pay additional fees to obtain your Class E License.
IF I HAVE FAILED THE PERMIT EXAM INPERSON CAN I TAKE THE EXAM ONLINE?
No. If you have taken the permit exam at your Tax Collectors office and failed you will not be eligible to take the permit exam online, you will be required to complete additional attempts in-person as well.
